Setting Up Your First Coached Meeting

getting-startedguide

Getting from download to your first coached meeting takes about 5 minutes. Here's the walkthrough.

Step 1: Download and install

Download Sixthly for macOS. Open the .dmg file and drag Sixthly to your Applications folder. Launch it from Spotlight or your Applications folder.

Sixthly requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, running on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer).

Step 2: Grant permissions

Sixthly needs two macOS permissions to work:

Microphone access — so Sixthly can hear the meeting audio. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and enable Sixthly.

Screen recording access — so Sixthly can capture system audio from your meeting app (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.). Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and enable Sixthly.

Both permissions are required. Without microphone access, Sixthly can't hear the conversation. Without screen recording, it can't capture the other participants' audio from the meeting app.

Step 3: Add your API key

Sixthly uses AI models for coaching suggestions, but you bring your own key. This means you control the cost and the provider relationship.

  1. Sign up at OpenRouter (free account)
  2. Create an API key in your OpenRouter dashboard
  3. Paste it in Sixthly's Settings > API Key field

OpenRouter gives you access to Claude, GPT-4, Gemini, and dozens of other models. Sixthly defaults to Claude for coaching quality, but you can switch models anytime.

Step 4: Connect your calendar

Optionally, connect your Google Calendar so Sixthly shows your upcoming meetings on the home screen. This also enables pre-call briefing — Sixthly reviews your contact history and prepares coaching context before the meeting starts.

Go to Settings > Calendar and follow the Google sign-in flow.

Step 5: Join a meeting

That's it. Join any meeting on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or any other video call app. Sixthly automatically detects the active meeting and starts coaching.

You'll see a discreet overlay with coaching suggestions. The suggestions adapt to the conversation phase and your contact's history. After the call, Sixthly generates a debrief report with action items and a follow-up draft.

Your first meeting with Sixthly coaching will feel different. Not because of any single suggestion, but because you'll feel more prepared, more intentional, and more aware of the conversation dynamics.

Download Sixthly and try it on your next call.
